Trends on the Horizon!

With 2023 coming to a close, we reflect on the past year of trends. It was a year of jellyfish cuts, two toned hair and cowboy copper. Bangs were being cut and roots were being covered up. Now that the year is almost over, we look forward to 2024 to see what the trends will be in the coming year.

Pinterest every year comes out with their “Pinterest Predicts” where they predict the next year of trends based on what searches are on the rise and how fashion cycles come and go. So how do these trends affect the salon? And which trends should we be on the lookout for?

Salon Trends

The predicted trend for the salon is “Make it Big”! Pinterest describes this trend as “oversized opulence” and predicts oversized jackets, fluffy clothes, and most importantly for the salon big hair. Big blowouts are on the up and coming. For those of us who already love a good blowout, be proud that you are ahead of the trend! If you're looking to get the style here is what you can do!

Blowouts can be achieved either at the salon or at home. Blowouts at our salon start at $45, and include the hair wash, all the products used and the blowout itself. If you're looking for a more DIY approach you can get the look at home! You will need a round brush, hair dryer and hair product! The round brush is essential for getting volume and the hot air will help seal the look. Heat protectant is a must to make sure your hair doesn't get damaged from the heat of the blowdryer. While not required, a blowout balm is also very helpful for getting that sleek blowout look. First make sure the hair is clean and wet. Distribute your products evenly throughout the hair and section your hair. The more sections the bigger the blowout! Wrap your hair around the round brush and blow dry down working from the root to the end. Place the blowdryer right against the brush and slowly bring the brush and blowdryer down the length of the hair. Repeat the section until your hair is dry and bouncy! Another optional but recommended step is hair spray to seal the look all day long.

Spa Trends

The past few years have been huge for skincare, and the trend shows no sign of stopping. Skincare on your face isn't the only type of skincare that is gaining popularity. Pinterest predicts “Head to Glow,” a movement to expand skincare to the whole body, not just the face saying “the skin below your chin deserves just as much TLC”. “Luxury lotions… spa experiences and some serious spf…” are just a few of the things that define the new body skincare movement. According to Pinterest, search results for “body skincare routine” were up a whopping 1025% from last year showing a clear growing interest.

We are so happy to see that the skincare trend is not only not slowing down, but expanded to the whole body! We’ve already been in love with body care, as anyone who has gotten a facial here knows. Our facials aren't just about your face, they also include a scalp massage, shoulder and neck rub, and an arm massage that starts at the shoulder and ends at your fingertips. All of these include exquisitely scented products that do wonders for your skin. We also have a back facial for those who suffer from acne, dry skin, or just want to give another part of your body that facial treatment! After your facial you can take home a number of lotions, skincare products and creams that will keep you moisturized and gorgeous from scalp serums to foot relief!
